Known to westerners as tunic tops, a kurta is a loose stitched garment that can be worn by men or women, while a kurti is simply a short version of the kurta, usually worn by women. Tunic tops first became popular in the West during the 1960s and 1970s, and are now more fashionable than ever, both on the runway and in the real world.
